Well I’ve seen Donnie Darko film and just like every other viewer I didn’t understand it or make any sense of the film too. Because just like other people I to watched YouTube and google things like ‘explanation of Donnie Darko’ but I didn’t get that right. Because if you watch 10 videos regarding the explanation or read different articles you will get to an onother story followed with another explanation of the film every single time I am still wondering that did director knew what did he doing like did he knew the story or what like everybody didn’t understand it. I’ve watched memento, interstellar, Shutter Island, etc. And every explanation in those cases lead to same explanation but not in donnie Darko’s case. After watching it I really told to myself that man this film’s got issues.
MY EXPLANATION
Well if you ask me my answer will be like, the film is about a story that never took place. You Must be wondering after seeing the film like how come that could be. Well yes the film features a school boy who has a mental disorder for which he was taking a medical treatment. But with some arguing scenes with her teacher it is clear that he is smarter that others and knew perfectly what’s going on around him. Now due to his mental illness he has formed a virtual bunny friend of himself which always used to tell him that in this particular things the world is going to end. And Donnie thinks that the Binky is helping him for finding perfect paths and course of action in his favor like Telling him to go far away from his house to sleep asked after that he survived that plane crash accident or after flooding the school he got a break and make his bond better with his crush. So he thinks that his bunny friend helps him but along with this he also helps him cause destruction like seeing the theater up on fire and put an axe on that dog statue. So in the course of this events he get to know about time travel so he relates all that stuff gaining with him to tone travel he does some researchers which helps him to stop the end of the world. And the day came the threw a party at his house in the occasion of her sisters selection to Howard. He invited her girlfriend to the party who comes crying at the venue. She read dad that her mother had been harmed by his step father or just is missing but she was not at home. They didn’t state the proper reason for her crying. Donnie took her to his room they were kissing and suddenly he got a vision that leads him to grandma death who he thinks is a time traveler and is immortal so to ask the reason behind her immorality and to save the world but just reaching there they found some bad classmates who threaten donnie and tease him. They had a gun and a knife with them. Suddenly two boys came and hit Donnie’s girlfriend with their car and she is dead by now. Donnie took the gun and shoot that boy. And suddenly all the film changed in the upcoming scene and we reach again to very first scene where the movie started on the mountain where donnie woke up in the starting all the incidents repeated and at night donnie slept with a slight smile on his room but this time when that plane crashed he could not survive and got dead.
FINAL CONCLUSION
So after all these incidents we can conclude that everything that happens was just a dream and if donnie didn’t slept in that room that day he could survive and that all incidents could have happened which we saw throughout the film. In the film in one scene it is stated that the future give us clues in our dreams and that’s what donnie saw in his dream. Which means that he knew that he is going to die but just pretending all that to be just a dream and slept normally. But that all happend what he survived in his dreamed and the other things after his survival showed in the dream. Now all this lead to an end that the end of the world does not literally mean to the end of the world but the end of donnie’s world of we can say his life so by being dead he stopped all incidents like flooding of school, firing of English teacher, and death of her girlfriend which never knew that donnie saved his life because before that she didn’t know donnie darko. And now that hell of that last scene that famous question that why the girl and their neighbor’s son waved their hands towards Donnie darko’s mother. So guys please forgive me I am being threatend by that question also and nobody satisfied me still. But I think the reason behind this is that what donnie felt is felt by everyone in their live we just got attracted to someone by just out inside. We don’t know them but it feels like it does because we have watched them in our dream like we’ve got a vision and they just wanted their hands because they wanted to because their inside says to do so. And thats all I have make of it.
